Viktoria Plzen forward Prince Kwabena Adu last night made his dream world cup debut for the Black Stars in their 1-0 victory against Panama in group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Prince Kwabena Adu was introduced in the 87th minute for skipper Jordan Ayew to inject pace and energy upfront as the Black Stars searched for their first win of the tournament.
Adu’s strength and control on the ball was key in Ghana finding the net in the 95th minute as he linked up with Antoine Semenyo who played a delightful pass to Brandon Thomas Asante down the left channel for Caleb Yirenkyi to tap in from Asante’s low cross.

His energy and defensive effort helped the Black Stars see out the closing moments and secure a winning start to their World Cup campaign. It was a memorable first appearance on football’s biggest stage for Adu, who has enjoyed a rapid rise since leaving Ghana for European football.
With Ghana now preparing for a crucial Group L clash against England in Boston, Adu’s encouraging cameo could strengthen his case for more minutes as Queiroz looks to build on the victory over Panama.
