After an exciting three days of talent hunt and discovery, the 2022 edition of the ArthurLegacy Invitational Tournament has come to an end in Accra.
The event which started on April 26, 2022, saw top football scouts from Italy, Turkey and around the world pick from a pool of talented youngsters at the Adjiringarno Wembley Park.
At the end of the tournament, some 22 under 18 players were picked from Ghana, and Ivory Coast in a tournament that had 30 games played among 16 teams including high-profiled games between Division Two sides like Cheetah FC, Zilina FC, Rising Stars, Benab FC and Kengid FC.
Speaking to Citi Sports, Oliver Arthur, the CEO of ArthurLegacy highlighted that the tournament exceeded his expectations, and he is very satisfied with what has transpired.
“This year’s tournament has exceeded my expectations. We had a target of the scouts picking 10 players, but they ended up taking 22 and that is very good for us, so I am happy,” he said.
The three-day event attracted a lot of people with old and current Ghanaian talents passing through with the likes of Kwadwo Asamoah, Ibrahim Tanko (head coach, Local Black Stars) and Maxwell Konadu (head coach, Legon Cities) as well as the Italian Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency, Daniela d’Orlandi.
“I am looking forward to next year already, and I urge everyone who is interested to contact us early because we start this invitational from the regional level before we get to the main event, which is always in April,” he added.
“It is not easy organizing things like this, it takes a lot of planning, and I am so grateful to our sponsors, Nestle Ghana, Cubica, Special Ice and Imaggio. They have been phenomenal and without them, I am not sure whether we could have done this without their support,” he concluded.
